Occasionally, aircraft were sent to scout what the Japanese were doing, reports sent back to the French Commander greatly relieved him, as the Japanese were pulling back from the stretched defensive positions of a few months ago, and concentrating their defense on Hai Phong, their lifeline for supplies.



This action left the Japanese gains over the few months effectively null, however as the commander sent French scouts out, they were greeted with booby traps and contingents of the IJA patrolling and harassing them, he decided that another attack on Hanoi would be foolish, but instead has shifted his positions closer to Hanoi. Not quite in range of the Japanese but would allow for easier combat should he receive such an order to do so.



In conclusion, for three months the French and Japanese did nothing, and both received a well earned rest.



Vinh - A 10,000 sized contingent of the IJA supported by various machinery and artillery were sent by sea to attack Phu Dien Chau then head towards Vinh. The Japanese experienced no heavy resistance, only sporadic guerillas. Suffering minimal casualties, they have captured the city of Vinh however transport lines will need to be extended towards Vinh as well.



The same 10,000 sized contingents are also sent to the cities of Hue and Da Nang (Where last time the Japanese unceremoniously bombarded the city.)



These were pulled from the 100,000 troops sent to reinforce Japanese positions in Indochina, the previous 100,000 Japanese that were instructed to evacuate Indochina have all been evacuated and are currently resting.

Japanese supply lines are further strained, the damaged ports of Da Nang are not exactly assisting in supplying either.

To whom it may concern, don't blame me for high casualty numbers. Pitting close to 400,000 men to fight over a piece of territory the size of a city, with vague operations that never specify an offensive detailing the amount of numbers for each offensive allowing me to estimate how many dead would be in an offensive, and keep in mind these are three month battles with only single details given such as take "X" city, and nothing else for three months. These as well are not extended front lines such as World War I with hundreds of miles but instead city size meat grinders.
