Lore and Information
Before there was the Federated States of the Galaxy, before there was even interstellar travel, there was just Earth, the Moon, and Mars. These three planetoids made up the known list of homes for the human race, divided and carved by countries from Earth and Mars, the stage of international politics was as vibrant and populous as ever. Although not every nation was as free and secure as the next, humanity had survived, and it had overcome every barrier it had ever faced, mostly. After the establishment of the connected stations in the Asteroid Belt in the early 22nd century, the Belt wars began, a decade long war that nearly destroyed the colony and tore apart the nations that occupied it. From there the Earth Ultimatum was held, and from that the Federated States of the Galaxy was born. With the combined resources of nations on Earth and Mars, the growth rate of humanity grew exponentially, but not entirely unhindered by the petty squabbles within.
For two centuries, the FSG colonized and colonized, searching for fuel, food, and materials to build their new empire with. Looking for new technology, scientific discoveries, and maybe even sentient lifeforms. Despite the revolutionary changes happening to humanity and the area which it governed, the interests and goals of the FSG did not change with them. As their power and dominance grew the provincial governments became corrupt, money began to go missing, priorities changed. Along with several isolated, but important events, the rebellion began. The rest is history, after battles and wars fought across the known galaxy, the FSG had no option other than to retreat if they wanted to keep the gem of their Empire. So the Centauri accords were signed, a peace treaty ending all conflict between the FSG and the newborn nations that had taken the place of their colonies. Thus the new age of Space Empires began.
