Kastolar Sector Vice Minister for Transport
Ferix Gault
Name: Ferix Lucas Gault, of the Coruscanti Gault family.
Age: 32
Planet of Origin: Coruscant/Imperial Center
Biography:
Ferix Gault was not a humble man. He would be the first to enlighten you of his aristocratic, well-bred family line which has played various roles in the politics of the Republic stretching bback at least 400 years. Of no small mention would be Janise Gault, a two-time advisor to Supreme Chancellor Valorum in his senate days. Gault did not live a poor life. Although far from being among the richest of then-Coruscant, he benefitted from vast wealth, a great education, and a large family full of almost fantastic connections. From the army to COMPNOR, the only element of the Imperial government the Gaults had no say in would only be the Imperial intelligence services. After a decent showing in both secondary and tertiary schools, Ferix joined the Imperial government, but shying away from his father and mother's expertise in working as governing authorities; governors, system administrators, moffs, and the like, Ferix instead opted to the government services branch of the Empire. Believing the times had changed since the fall of the Republic, where system authority meant far more than the overarching, but weak, Republic government service ministries, Ferix opted to enter the Ministry of Transportation, given his affection for interstellar commerce and his affinity for complex administration, and it being somewhere he could use his Imperial Navy admiral uncle's good graces to help advance.
His rise, however, has been far from meteoric. Despite his connections, and his adequate skills, Ferrix was navigating the complex chain of Imperial authority, and though the new Empire valued young, aristocratic blood in favor of the meritocratically-vetted Republican old guard, he still had to climb the complex labyrinth of Imperial bureaucracy. After two short tours in Imperial Center Transport Authority, he quickly acquired a contract for the Imperial civil service in the transport ministry. From there he was sent from system to system, acting in various administrative roles, climbing from district overseer to planetary superintendent. While frustrated by the grueling workloads and provincial accommodations at times, Gault found a certain glee in the challenge and the promise for quicker promotion the farther from Imperial Center he was stationed. He was also able to relieve stress through frequent visitations to high-end brothels and casinos. These were potentially career restraining hobbies, but ones that remained quite common in the Mid-Rim and beyond. Gault also found an interest in collecting and displaying artifacts he could purchase through semi-reputable sources.
Regardless of his personal drawbacks, his career continued in an upward progression as he toiled away and remained ambivalent to his proximity to the Core regions, until reaching the post of Vice Minister for Transportation of the Kastolar sector. Because of the extreme attention to deference in Imperial titles, he was actually in charge of the ministry of transportation for the Kastolar sector despite the 'vice' in front of his title. While clearly not nearly as prestigious or singularly powerful as even a planetary governor, there were advantages to his posting. Now, though, he was at a fork in the road of his career. While his ambition saw him soaring to levels higher and higher, his posting had given him an expectation to meet before his tour was complete. Being posted at the edge of Hutt space, Gault was now so far from the Core, that his name was beginning to lose relevance, except with the expeditionary naval forces posted there with him. While there was potential for real improvement in a sector where piracy and rebel activity were the norm, and therefore promotion, lack of progress or failure could mean an immediate end to his rise and the beginning of a long, permanent career stagnation. He had to do more than produce good work, Gault needed to make a difference, something he was quite unused to doing while working in the Imperial bureaucracy. If he wanted to see the remainder of his star-studded future: multi-sector authority, rim-wide ministry positions, a return to Imperial Center in the galaxy-wide Imperial Ministry of Transport, and then finally, in his silver years, perhaps even an advisorship to the Emperor himself, he needed to make a name for himself. Or else he would be consigned to mid-rim prostitutes and rigged Sabacc games the rest of his life.
Starting Location: Ubrikkia, Kastolar Sector
Starting Forces:
Sector Forces
Nominally of use to Minister Gault, but his requests must be evaluated by senior officials and military personnel first, and rarely are his full requests given, if ever. Additionally, ground force allotments are very limited, while fleet force allotments come from active ready forces in the sector, though more generous due to the nature of Gault's senior position in the transport ministry, are limited by patrols, training, certifications, maintenance, and system defense requirements. While many of these can be rerouted from their original missions, it takes time and authority.

Kastolar Sector Ministry of Transport Forces
The ministry has some fleet forces for general and emergency use, and ground forces for their protection. Being the head of the ministry, Gault has direct control over these units, but his use can be reviewed by ISB or senior government officials, and should not be used unwisely. These do not include the immense size of the private shipping industry of the sector nor the inter-sector and government shipping which travel the sector, that dominates the time and energies of the ministry. While many of these can be commandeered, this is highly irregular and for extreme emergencies only.
